What we do
We work with more than 5,000 families in the District from sites in wards 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Where we see a need, we find a way to address it, with diverse programming in:
Community Support
-
Through the Healing Center, families receive grief and substance abuse counseling, participate in sexual abuse support groups, and receive family supports.
Events
-
Momma’s Safe Haven started with a talent show, “DC Youth Has Talent” — a free community event and program designed to give youth a positive outlet and create opportunities for success. We build real relationships within families and among them through this and other programs, including field trips to amusement parks and elsewhere.
Education and training
-
We give people guidance in taking charge of their own financial success through the “Black Wall St. in DC” and other programs. We teach families about nutrition and we are planning our first-ever “You Go Girl” Transformation Conference for fall 2018.
